orto futuro
hybrid space in venice, a portal for space, nature and collective intelligence
ma 2 project
the venice architecture biennale 2025 raises the question of how architecture can be positioned between natural, artificial, and collective intelligence under the
theme intelligens. natural. artificial. collective. this module challenges students to design a hybrid space – the ‘orto futuro’ as an architectural-sculptural intervention on the venetian island
of sant erasmo. sant erasmo, a historically agricultural island, serves as a retreat from the tourist-driven venice. the orto futuro will function as a
portal for architectural, artistic, and societal exchange—bridging the real and virtual, the analog and digital, the natural and artificial. the task consists of two interwoven
components:
1. orto futuro – a transformative space for reflection & dialogue
• development of a hybrid space that acts as both a physical and digital node for interaction, research, and experimentation.
• use of AI, XR (extended reality), and analog methodologies to create a concept that merges landscape, architecture, and digital realms.
2. architectural sculpture – an immersive artifact
• design of a sculptural installation as the centerpiece of orto futuro, developed through AI-assisted processes (text-to-image and image-to-object).
• implementation and evaluation of the sculpture through VR and AR, expanding the perception of both the physical and digital space.
• the sculpture acts as a symbolic portal, making visible the interaction between nature, architecture, and digital transformation.

blob. feel. think. act. at the growing table.
next to the archaic house, a blob emerges from the bare façade—mirroring the extension on the opposite side while deliberately disrupting the traditional image of the house. blob architecture originated from the movement to rethink space as something dynamic and constantly evolving.
